Heart of India

Fighting the ghosts of terrorism, struggling with stains of underworld’s involvement and ruling the cotton industry since decades, here’s a city that never sleeps. A local party which looks to burn everything and local parties which indeed set the stage on fire, this city has seen them all. From the cruelest of traitors to the most honorable people in the country, this city has been a roller-coaster in its own. A city which drives you ahead, connects with you no matter wherever in the country you might be living, and which promises to design your future; Mumbai – the heart of India.

Right from dawn till Ek Chaalis ki last local, Mumbai roads will always appeal to you to drive along Juhu Beach, sway with the winds near Marina Drive or visit the Gateway of India. Drives in Mumbai city never end. Either you give in to the lust of adventure or to the agony of work, but your journey is tough to come to a pause. Mumbai remains a mix of flyovers and roads plagued with traffic signals; flyovers which give you the edge of speed; roads which keep you waiting in the queue. Whichever day, flyovers or roads, whichever is in your fortune, all the city can promise is a worthwhile journey.

If roads aren’t enough, the design of the whole city will certainly be. Hosting a number of beautiful caves and temples, Mumbai brings back the long-lost ancient culture and shows you how much of the ‘Bombay’ is still left within. The structures in Kamala Park or the amazingly curving roller coasters in EsselWorld just go on to show that there is something in the city for all. One looks at Taj and will never be able to guess that this was the building which was once attacked ruthlessly and left to burn. Somewhere between small sand castles being designed on the Aksa Beach and big buildings being designed in the background, the city designs and gives shape to a thousands of dreams each day. Theaters, studios and stadiums welcome many debutants each day who aspire to design their careers here.

It is these debutants who go on to become our icons later who we connect to and who connect the whole nation together. It is still unbelievable to think how one Mumbaikar made million hearts of the nation throb at once and made the country chant in chorus- Sachin, Sachin. It is still unbelievable to think how a movie shot in the city, casting such debutants went on to become the talk of the whole world and pitched India on the world map at Oscars. It is unbelievable to think how one city can connect the whole nation together time and again. When Dhoni hit the winning runs at Wankhede, when the police force took on the terrorists with bull-horns and even when Shahrukh Khan turned 50. From any celebration to every weird one, Mumbai has always connected with its people and the people around the nation.

It drives you. It designs your dreams. It connects you to the world. Mumbai is a gem but somehow the words of Mohammad Rafi are still on point, “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil Jeena Yahan, Zara Hat Ke, Zara Bach Ke, Yeh Hai Bombay Meri Jaan!”

Sitting in Kolkata, with no upcoming plans to travel to the city, I don’t have any stakes to play in the city but Mumbai’s binding magic makes it a popular favourite for many. Here’s hoping intolerance does not separate its people and odd-even theory does not separate its roads. Keep driving, designing and connecting, Mumbai. Here’s your young fan in Kolkata, eating Puchkas waiting to call it a Pani-Puri.

The Sugar-Free Dessert.

It is always said that we should save the best for the last. That somehow justifies why we eat Desserts at the end of any meal. The other reason why Desserts are eaten after stomach is full is because they don’t have to reach the stomach actually. They directly reach our hearts. To judge any meal, last impression is the only impression. If the desserts are good, they take the cake. (Or we take the cake?)

Everybody has a soft corner for sweet things. But a sweet food without sugar? A nightmare before Sugar-free showed sweetness exists beyond sugar. While I was happily moving towards Diabetes in my love for Desserts, the Sugar-free challenge came by. What can be sweet, keep people healthy and  make people eating it love it so much?

Sweetness, Health and Love
synonyms: Sugar-Free Natura, Apple and Rose.

Apple-Rose was the answer.
